I first touched a computer when I was in 5th grade and began teaching myself programming. Since then, fascinated by the possibilities of IT, I began developing software independently in 1994 and founded Techlico Inc. in 2005. I have since accumulated development experience across a wide range of fields, including web systems, smartphone apps, and social games.

The turning point came when an acquaintance suffered a stroke and I encountered the symptom called ‘hemispatial neglect’ and its rehabilitation field. While technology was evolving I was greatly shocked by the current situation where inefficient analog methods were still being used for examinations and training in medical and care settings.

Through discussions with an acquaintance who is an occupational therapist, we began to realize that the technology and ideas we had cultivated could also be applied to medical rehabilitation. This led us to develop prototype software using VR technology. Building on joint research with Kansai Medical University, “Rehamaru” — a rehabilitation support system using MR technology — was developed.

‘Rehamaru’ is currently being implemented in hospitals and care facilities being utilized by many people as rehabilitation that can be continued enjoyably. Through this technology we want to realize a future where everyone can naturally and comfortably incorporate technology into their lives not limited to medical and care fields.
